Three-star rating for Rooftop Housing Group

11/09/2008

Rooftop Housing Group is celebrating the news that Evesham and Pershore Housing Association (EPHA), the founder association of the group, has been awarded a three-star excellent rating by the Audit Commission.

The Audit Commission has inspected over 200 housing associations since it took over the inspection role in 2004 and in that time has only awarded three stars on three other occasions.

The Group's chief executive, Ian Hughes, said everyone connected with the organisation was delighted with the inspection result. "We have always strived for excellence and set ourselves the highest possible standards and so it is fantastic to have our efforts recognised in such glowing terms by the Audit Commission. In recent years we have really focussed on achieving our key objectives and the three-star rating is therefore a welcome acknowledgement of our success. Of course, none of this would have happened without the hard work and commitment of the people at Rooftop and also our residents who have supported us in what we have done and what we are trying to do. Equally, it's a result of our work with, and the support of, all of our partner organisations whom we also thank."

Allan Brace, chairman of Evesham and Pershore Housing Association, added: "Right from our early days we have involved our residents as much as we could in the decision-making process, worked hard to ensure our repairs programme was up to date and made value-for-money a key part of all our policies and plans. All of these attributes, and more, were praised by the Audit Commission in its report."

Rooftop Housing Group now plans to use the commission's report to build on its successes and ensure that those areas of weakness that remain are used as an opportunity to make even further improvements.
